Lesson: Today the students wrote alliteration stories. The students were given a letter of the alphabet to write their alliterative stories. Their story had to include words that started with their assigned letter. Their goal was to use that letter as much as possible in their story. We shared their tongue twister stories in class.

Lesson: Today the students learned about a new type of figurative language - alliteration! Alliteration is when an author repeats the same beginning sound in neighboring words. For example:
Homework: None Warm Up: Write the sentences. Circle the object that being personified. Underline the human traits.
Lesson: Today the students practiced using personification in short stories. I supplied a selection of pictures to use as story starter ideas, and the students had to chose one story starter from the list. Click here to view the pictures. The students generated examples of personification based on these pictures, and then they wrote a short story with at least five examples of personification. Click here for a copy of the writing prompt sheet. They had to highlight each example of personification. Lesson: Today the students learned about the first type of figurative language - personification! Personification is when an author gives an idea, object, or animal human traits. For example:

Lesson: Today the students finished typing their final draft. When the students finished, they practiced story-writing. Our next writing unit, which will take place during April and May, will be narrative writing. The students chose from one of the following story options:
