Lesson: The students got their graded personal narrative essays back in class. They got the chance to read through their essays to see their mistakes. The students filled out an evaluation form that will be used for conferences. One side of the form asked them to record their essay score, describe what they did well, and describe what they could have improved upon. The other side of the form asked them to evaluate their behavior in class. The evaluation form, their essay, and their personal narrative packets will be in their folders for conferences.
Quick Write: In 1872, the crew of the Mary Celeste disappeared without a trace. It is the stuff of maritime legend. A ship sighted in the distance was boarded to reveal a vessel under full sail, its wheel creaking aimlessly, and not a soul on board. Make up a story that explains what happened to the crew of the Mary Celeste.
Homework: If any student wishes to rewrite their personal narrative for more points, that is due by Friday 3/6. There won't be any class time for this, so students must be responsible for doing this on their own if they wish to improve their scores.
