Warm Up: Complete the following sentence.
Lesson: The students learned more about personification today. The students were grouped and did an activity in their composition notebooks. The students were given a packet of pictures that demonstrate personification. They used the graphics to spur on lists of human characteristics that could be used to describe the object or animal in the picture. Then they wrote sentences using personification. Homework: The students were given a homework assignment that is due Friday. They will not have class time to work on this. The students will be making personification posters. This will be done in their Figurative Language Books they made. The students must write a sentence that uses personification. They must draw a picture that illustrates this example of personification. The picture must be neat and colorful. Here is the example I made:
Warm Up: In the following sentences, circle the simple subject and box the simple predicate. Draw a vertical line to separate the subject and the predicate. Underline the complete subject and double underline the complete predicate.
Lesson: We are in a unit about figurative language. The students learned about personification today. The students wrote the definition of and an example of personification in their figurative language packets. We also went over several examples in class. The students worked on the personification practice page in their figurative language packets. For a copy of this packet, download the following attachment. Lesson: We are beginning our unit on figurative language. The students spent the class making a book out of construction paper and copy paper. They titled their books, "My Figurative Language Book." We will use this book as a portfolio to showcase all the creative work they will be doing in this unit. Homework: Digital Story movies due Monday (3/30) Students have iExcel on Wednesday and Thursday or after school to work on this if they are not finished. Warm Up: No warm up
Lesson: Today is the last day in class that students have to work on their Digital Story movies. Their finished movies are due next Monday (3/30). If they aren't finished by today, they can work on it during iExcel or before or after school. Homework: Finish Digital Story Warm Up: No warm up
Lesson: The students will spend Monday and Tuesday of this week finalizing their Digital Story videos. All of their recordings should be completed. The students spent Monday listening to and editing their video. The students are welcome to add a title page, a credits page, music, transitions, or captions to their video. All of these are encouraged, but are not required for their project. After Tuesday of this week, they will not have any more additional time to finalize their videos. Their completed projects are due next Monday (3/30) at the beginning of class. If the students need more work time, the computer carts will be available all week in iExcel.
