Lesson: Today we reviewed subjects and predicates. As a class, we corrected a page in their packet that they did last week.
Then I read the students Scary, Scary Halloween by Eve Bunting. This was my favorite Halloween children's book when I was a kid! I pointed out the strong nouns and verbs that were used in this story. The students then had to write their own Halloween story. Scary, Scary Halloween starts with the sentence, "I peer outside, there's something there." The students had to tell their own Halloween stories that started with this line from the book. Then it was up to them the direction that their stories went. See the quick write picture below. We turned off the lights and palyed spooky music as we wrote.
