Lesson: The students responded to one of the following creative writing prompts. After writing, the students shared their stories. After quick write time, the students either worked on missing work or chose one of the following activities.

Lesson: Today I explained how to do Steps 4-5, which involves creating a plan for your rough draft. I modeled this with a sample prompt, and the students made their own plans for their own informative prompt. The students completed this step on page 11 of their packet. Lesson: Today the students learned about their informative prompt options for their final informative paragraph. The students can choose from the following options:

Lesson: Today the students used their brainstorming notes from last week to write a quick practice informative paragraph. They used the informative plan and outline to structure their paragraph. The students have not specifically learned how to structure these sentences, so this was a practice to see what they already know. The sample prompt was: How do we show EXcelsior EXcellence in the classroom? Homework: None Warm Up:
Lesson: Today the students learned about the steps to informative paragraph writing. I used a PowerPoint to explain each step, and the students practiced these steps on page 4 of their packet. Lesson: Today the students took notes on page 5 of their packet about the informative paragraph outline. See the notes below. Then the students took apart an informative paragraph by color-coding the different pieces of a paragraph. They did this activity on page 6-7. Lesson: Today, the students took notes about the different parts of a paragraph. They did this on the hamburger note-taker they glued in their notebook yesterday. The students color coded the three parts of each paragraph. They colored each topic sentence red, each supporting detail yellow, and each concluding sentence red. Homework: None Warm Up:
Lesson: Today we started a new unit about informative writing. The students will be learning about the characteristics of informative writing and the parts of a paragraph. First, the students learned about informative writing, defined it, and wrote down characteristics and examples of informative writing.
