Warm Up: We finished quick writes we started in class yesterday. Lesson: The students were introduced to their last unit: a how-to paper. The students will be writing a small paper explaining how to do a particular skill or activity. We went through the following Power Point slides. We practiced by making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We made the sandwiches in class and the students wrote out procedural steps. Warm Up: None
Lesson: The students took the figurative language test today. Homework: None Warm Up: The students read their free reading book during warm up.
Lesson: The class played figurative language bingo to review for the figurative language test tomorrow. Homework: Study for the test tomorrow!!! Warm Up: We played a review game in class. We did an interactive review through the website Kahoot. The students were able to use their phones/tablets/ipods to answer review questions. They had a lot of fun!!
Lesson: The students worked on their figurative language study guides The figurative language test is on Thursday. This packet is due tomorrow. Warm Up: The students watched a YouTube video. They had to come up with at least three examples of figurative language from the video.
Lesson: The students were given cards that had similes and metaphors. They had to sort the cards into a simile pile and a metaphor pile. Then the students made a t-chart in their figurative language books. One side of the chart was about similes and the other, metaphors. The students wrote the sentences down in the correct column. They also had to transform the simile or metaphor into the other type. For example:
