- Subject Pronouns - A pronoun that replaces the subject noun
- The boy ran across the yard.
- He ran across the yard.
- Object Pronouns - A pronoun that replaces the direct object
- Direct Object - A noun that receives the action in a sentence.
- The teacher dropped the pencil.
- The teacher dropped it.
- The action verb is "dropped." The pencil was dropped. Therefore, "pencil" is the direct object. "It" is an object pronoun that could be used to replace the direct object.
We went through several sentences and identified the direct objects. Then we replaced the direct objects with object pronouns. The students practiced this skill on page 8 of their pronoun packet.
