- A conjunction is a word that connects words, phrases, and clauses.
Then the students learned about about simple and compound sentences.
- A simple sentence is a sentence that expresses one complete thought. It is one complete sentence.
- Ex: Jerry walked to the park. This is a simple sentence.
- A compound sentence is two simple sentences joined together in one sentence by a comma and a conjunction.
- Ex: Amanda did the dishes, and then she did all of her other chores. This is a compound sentence. "Amanda did the dishes" and "She did all of her chores" are simple sentences. Combined by the conjunction, it is a compound sentence.
