Lesson: Today the students learned about similes. They wrote the definition and examples in their figurative language books. A simile is a phrase that compares two unlike things using the words "like" or "as." For example, "The clouds were fluffy like cotton candy." We went over several examples in class and watched some movie clips that had simile examples in them. Then the students wrote simile poems. Their simile poems must have at least 10 lines each containing similes. See the example below.
