Homework: Final Bio-Poem due tomorrow, Writing example due in class on Friday
Warm Up: Make a word web in your notebook. Think of how your family uses writing at home and how people write at work. Add as many examples that you can think of to your web. Lesson: We continued our discussion about how people use writing in their everyday lives. We brainstormed a long list of writing examples, ranging from articles to lists, calendars, cartoons, cards, recipes, speeches, plays, and so on. See the images below to see what the students thought of! They are required to bring a writing sample from home to class on Friday. I encouraged them to think of their family uses writing at home and how different people in their jobs use writing. We will add each example to a large bulletin board so they can see all the kinds of writing we use in our lives.
