- Fill out your agenda and get it checked.
- Read your quick write from Friday.
- Underline or circle the adjectives in your story.
Lesson: We started class by sharing quick writes from Friday. The students kept track of all the adjectives they heard as each student read their story. Then the students learned about adverbs. We listened to the Schoolhouse Rock adverb song. To listen to this song, click here. An adverb is a word the describes a verb, adjective, or adverb. For example:
- "The dog ran quickly."
- The word quickly describes how the dog ran. Ran is an action verb. Because quickly describes a verb, it is an adverb.
- "The band is very noisy."
- The word very describes how noisy the band is. Noisy is an adjective. Because very describes an adjective, very is an adverb.
- "I read the book very quickly."
- The word very describes how quickly I read the book. Quickly is an adverb. Because very is describing another adverb, it is an adverb.
