Lesson: Today we began our figurative language unit. The students were given figurative language booklets on Friday of last week. Today the students learned about figurative language. We discussed the difference between literal and figurative language and practiced with several examples. I read aloud an Amelia Bedelia book, a storybook character who is known for taking figurative language literally. We will begin our first type of figurative language tomorrow - personification!
