- "The dog ran quickly."
- The word quickly describes how the dog ran. Ran is an action verb. Because quickly describes a verb, it is an adverb.
- "The band is very noisy."
- The word very describes how noisy the band is. Noisy is an adjective. Because very describes an adjective, very is an adverb.
- "I read the book very quickly."
- The word very describes how quickly I read the book. Quickly is an adverb. Because very is describing another adverb, it is an adverb.
