Lesson: Today the students learned about common and proper nouns. A common noun names a general person, place, thing or idea. (Ex: city, dog, teacher, school, pencil) A proper noun names a specific person, place, thing, or idea. ( Ex: Mrs. Maddox, Iowa, Excelsior, Harry Potter) The students worked on page 5 in their workbooks. On this page, there was a list of nouns. If the noun was common, they wrote common on the line. If the noun was proper, the capitalized the noun. The students also worked on page 6 in their workbooks. We color coded the sentences based on the type of noun. Finally, the students completed page 7 in their workbooks. This page was additional practice with common and proper nouns.
Homework: Finish page 7
