Lesson: Today we continued learning about Central America and the Caribbean. The students worked on a travel planning worksheet about Central America and the Caribbean. We talked about items we would pack for a trip there, and how our packing items would vary from location to location. We talked about the climate in this region and how the climate is influenced by elevation. Tomorrow the students will take what they know and make a postcard based on their travel plans. Lesson: Today we watched a video about the Caribbean Islands. The video was produced by National Geographic Wild, and is all about the wildlife and geography of the Caribbean Islands. Lesson: We started class by reviewing some geography terms. I gave the students a blank Central America and Caribbean Island map. I called out various terms, and the students had to see if they could label these terms from memory. Then we got out the computers and we practiced pronouncing the names and capitals of the countries in Central America. The students labeled these on their maps.
