Homework: None Warm Up: Which of the following flags is Canada's flag? Lesson: Today we started our unit about Canada! We started class by talking about what the students already know about Canada.
To introduce the unit, we will watch a video about Terry Fox. Terry Fox was a Canadian athlete, humanitarian, and cancer research activist. When he was in high school, he found out that he had cancer and needed to have his leg amputated. Afterwards, he embarked on a cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. This video is a great discussion starter and is a great introduction to Canada. Today I introduced the note-taker they will be using during the video and we watched a portion of the video.
